DG Sport Compétition and Nicolas Ciamin kick-off the 2020 season with a superb 2nd place at the Rallye de Monte-Carlo!

As a successful lead off, what more could one ask for. This last weekend Nicolas Ciamin and Yannick Roche made excellent use of the Citroën C3 R5 DG Sport Compétition by claiming 2nd place in the WRC3 category, not without clinching 4 scratches in 16 special stages. Traditionally tricky, the Rallye de Monte-Carlo stuck to its image, constraining the French team to carefully manage matters, which they did perfectly.

“I’m obviously delighted with this result, and all in all this Monte-Carlo was not simple, Nicolas Ciamin commented.  We very soon found ourselves in 2nd spot in WRC3, with too much of a backlog on the highly experienced Eric Camilli, but with a good lead over our nearest rivals. In such conditions one needs to be able to manage matters, and we needed to act pretty quickly. In such cases the question is always to know how to attack all out whilst retaining a margin of safety. Especially on such a tricky course. Apart from a flat tyre and time lost behind another competitor in the middle of a special stage, everything ran to perfection. My thanks to the DG Sport Compétition team for the hard work they put in throughout this week, not forgetting the welcoming atmosphere. Now time to head off for Portugal…

In the DG Sport Compétition ranks they are celebrating the perfect outcome put in by Ciamin and Roche….” For us it became even more complicated seeing this Monte-Carlo quickly turned into managing the situation, Alain Georges, the Belgian team’s Rally Manager commented. Apart from our rather hazardous choice of tyres with a view to the final loop on the Saturday, everything was perfect. Nicolas and Yannick perfectly respected the strategy put in place, which means that they are attacking the season on a high note. We came here to grab major points in the championship, notwithstanding the quality of the field in WRC3, and the assignment was perfectly accomplished.”

It is in Portugal, from the 21st through to the 24th May that DG Sport Compétition will be back in the WRC3 competition… “An event on gravel that we are going to fastidiously prepare, Alain Georges continued. There will be a series of tests, as also a training rally. The aim is that Nicolas and Yannick will be in a position to tackle this new challenge with a maximum amount of assets up their sleeve. In the meanwhile, champagne!
